How the Bitcoin ranking differs from the general perp leaderboard

The Bitcoin perpetuals ranking sorts by liquidity score first, then taker fee as a tiebreaker. That ordering reflects how BTC perp trading actually works. BTC positions tend to be large. Execution quality — how close your fill is to the mid-market price — matters more than fee basis points when you are sizing $100,000 or more. A 1 bps fee difference on $100,000 is $10. A 10 bps spread on entry and exit is $200.

One Hyperliquid BTC order-book snapshot at 15:11 UTC on August 11, 2026 showed about $59.8 million of combined bid and ask depth within 0.1% of mid-price. One snapshot does not establish a typical range or a cross-venue lead. GMX uses an oracle reference and market-specific net price impact instead of an order book.

BTC-specific cost breakdown

For a $100,000 BTC long opened and closed within 24 hours:

Hyperliquid: 4.5 bps taker = $45 each way = $90 round-trip. Funding at neutral market: ~$10 for 24 hours.

dYdX: 5 bps taker = $50 each way = $100 round-trip. Funding similar to Hyperliquid.

Orderly Network: 3 bps taker = $30 each way = $60 round-trip. Liquidity score 8.0/10 — depth is real, but thinner than Hyperliquid for very large orders.

GMX: A 4-6 bps position fee on both open and close costs $80-$120 round-trip. Net price impact, borrowing, and funding can also apply.

The listed base fees make Orderly $30 cheaper than Hyperliquid for a $100,000 round trip. That fee-only comparison does not include spread, price impact, funding, or incomplete depth. Use /tools/cost-comparison with current data before you compare the total.

What the Bitcoin ranking does not show: BTC open interest by venue

Open interest is the more useful BTC-specific signal than volume for position traders. High OI means many traders have positions open — which means more market maker competition to fill your orders tightly. PerpFinder tracks BTC OI via Coinalyze's on-chain data in real time. The full perp listing shows OI alongside volume.

Hyperliquid typically carries the highest on-chain BTC OI. dYdX carries the second-highest. The gap between these two and the rest of the field is substantial on most trading days.

Pick BTC-focused venues if...

You trade primarily BTC with position sizes above $50,000. At that scale, order book depth matters. The Bitcoin ranking uses a liquidity-first sort for large positions. Hyperliquid and dYdX are the correct first and second choices.

You prefer a pool model over order-book execution. GMX uses an oracle reference, but the final fill can include net price impact based on pool balance and configured caps. Check the quoted execution price for the exact market, direction, and size.

Skip this page if...

You trade primarily altcoin perps and BTC is incidental to your strategy. The liquidity-optimized Bitcoin ranking does not necessarily identify the best altcoin venues. For altcoin coverage, see the most-pairs page.

Also skip if you are trading very small BTC positions (under $5,000 notional). At that size, the fee difference between venues is under $3 round-trip. Any other factor — interface familiarity, chain preference, existing wallet balance — is worth more than the fee delta. See the beginners page for size-appropriate venue recommendations.
