Sign up on edgeX through the referral link to join the referral program on one of the cheapest hybrid perp DEXes in the field. Be clear about what this is now: the pre-TGE points program is over. edgeX launched the EDGE token on March 31, 2026 (about 300 million EDGE distributed at roughly $0.49), and points stopped accruing at that TGE. What remains is a low-fee venue with real-yield EDGE staking and one of the higher referral commission ceilings in DeFi perps.

The points program ended at the March 2026 TGE

edgeX converted its pre-TGE points into the genesis distribution: a 25%-of-supply airdrop to early users and XP holders, plus a 5% Pre-TGE Season tranche unlocked about a day later, all fully unlocked. If you are farming edgeX for a points airdrop today, there is nothing left to farm; periodic exchange competitions have replaced points accrual.

Post-TGE, two disputes are worth knowing about before you size up. After insider-concentration allegations, the governance council locked 140 million EDGE for one year on April 1, 2026. And a thin-liquidity flash crash on June 1, 2026 triggered a USDC compensation program. Both are documented but unadjudicated. They do not affect the trading engine, but they are part of the honest picture.

edgeX hybrid architecture — sub-second execution with self-custody

edgeX separates order matching from settlement. Matching happens off-chain through a low-latency engine. Settlement of profits, losses, and fund movements is handled on-chain — a StarkEx-lineage design now migrating to an Arbitrum Orbit chain.

This hybrid model is used by ApeX Omni and was used by dYdX v3. The key edge over a fully on-chain order book is speed: market orders confirm in under one second because matching does not wait for block confirmation.

The key difference from a fully centralized exchange: you keep custody of your funds. Your private key controls your assets. edgeX can process orders but cannot unilaterally withdraw your funds.

edgeX fee structure — 1.2 bps maker, 3.8 bps taker

edgeX charges 0.012% (1.2 bps) for makers and 0.038% (3.8 bps) for takers. At 0.038% taker, edgeX undercuts dYdX (approximately 5 bps) and Hyperliquid Tier 0 (4.5 bps).

Fee math: on $200,000 monthly taker volume, edgeX charges $76. Hyperliquid charges $90. dYdX charges approximately $100 at the standard tier.

EDGE staking and referral commissions — the current incentives

EDGE staking is real-yield: delegated EDGE earns a share of protocol fees, and V2 API access requires 1,000 EDGE staked. On the referral side, commissions run up to 30% (among the higher ceilings in DeFi perps), so active referrers earn from fee flow rather than from a points pool.

Neither program depends on a future token event. EDGE trades on open markets, which means the reward math is checkable rather than speculative.

Audits — RigSec, SlowMist, and PeckShield

edgeX's published security reviews come from RigSec, SlowMist, and PeckShield, covering settlement contracts, withdrawal mechanics, and margin accounting. These are the highest-risk components of a hybrid DEX. Multiple named reviews do not eliminate risk (the June 2026 flash crash was a liquidity event, not a contract failure), but the contract-level surface has been independently examined.

edgeX vs ApeX Omni — similar architectures, different incentives

Both platforms use hybrid off-chain matching with on-chain settlement. Both support multi-chain deposits. The difference in mid-2026: ApeX Omni's referral gives a permanent 20% taker fee discount with no volume cap. edgeX's referral benefit centers on commission flow and competitions, with a lower base taker fee (3.8 bps vs ApeX's 5 bps) doing the cost work. For guaranteed fee savings on a discount, ApeX is more concrete; for the cheaper base schedule plus EDGE staking yield, edgeX wins on the raw numbers.
